COLOR INDEX (CI)

The Color Index (CI) identifies colorants using numbers that designate specific color pigments, such as CI 77007 for ultramarine blue. According to the EU Cosmetics Regulation (EC) No. 1223/2009, colorants in cosmetic products are ingredients that serve primarily to impart color to cosmetic products or parts of the body. Annex IV of the Regulation lists approved colorants, which are subject to rigorous safety testing before they may be used. In addition, the Regulation establishes specific maximum concentrations and permitted areas of use for certain colorants to ensure their safe use in cosmetic products.(1-3)

COPPER TRIPEPTIDE-1

Copper tripeptide, also known as GHK-Cu, consists of three amino acids (glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine) that form a chelate complex with a copper ion. It is a signaling and carrier peptide and is among the most extensively researched peptides. It has been shown to possess strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.(1) GHK-Cu has also been shown to have a positive effect on fibroblasts, which are key cells involved in the skin’s regeneration and renewal processes.(2) Since copper is an important trace element that plays a key role in the production of collagen and elastin, GHK-Cu can serve as a natural source of copper for connective tissue synthesis.(3) It thus supports and stimulates the body’s own synthesis of collagen, elastin, and proteoglycans, which can improve skin elasticity and smoothness.(4-5)
