Alkanes are linear, saturated hydrocarbons that are used in cosmetics as light oils or solvents—often as an alternative to silicones. Many conventional alkanes are derived from petroleum. We rely on a raw material that comes from plant sources and is readily biodegradable. We deliberately chose this ingredient to create a product with a pleasant sensory experience while also offering a more environmentally friendly alternative to silicone oils.(1)
