Alkohol, auch Ethanol genannt, wirkt in Kosmetika meist als Konservierungsmittel. Bei topischer Anwendung (auf der Haut) wirkt es als Penetrationsverstärker und kann die transdermale Absorption von Wirkstoffen erhöhen. Ethanol wird in großem Umfang für die topische Anwendung verwendet, wobei es nur selten Berichte über unerwünschte Wirkungen gibt.(1)
